Collaboration Features Help

Learn how to use the collaboration features to work together on songs.


Song Viewing

Version Control
  • Use the version selector dropdown to switch between different versions of the song
  • Each version maintains its own settings including: Title, Tempo, Key, Capo, Author, Copyright and ChordPro
  • The current version is clearly marked in the selector
Quick Actions
  • Edit: Opens the song in the editor (available to editors and owners)
  • Print View: Opens a print-friendly version of the song
  • Refresh: Updates the view with any new changes
  • Help: Reference all tips and tricks for collaborating

Comments and Discussion

Adding Comments
  • Use the comment box at the top of the discussion section
  • Comments are version-specific and show which version they belong to
  • You can include chord progressions in your comments using square brackets:

Chord Display in Comments
  • Chord lines are automatically formatted and highlighted
  • Chords appear in blue and are grouped in a distinct section
  • Regular text and chord sections are visually separated
Replying to Comments
  • Click the "Reply" button on any comment to respond
  • Replies are nested under the original comment
  • You can also include chords in replies

Collaboration Management

Roles and Permissions
  • Owner: Full control over the song and collaboration
  • Editor: Can edit the song and manage comments
  • Commenter: Can view and comment on the song
Managing Collaborators
  • Click "View Collaborators" to see all current collaborators
  • Owners can remove collaborators or change their roles
  • Collaborators can leave the collaboration at any time

Tips for Effective Collaboration

  • Use Version Control: Create new versions for major changes to preserve history
  • Be Specific in Comments: Reference specific sections or lines when suggesting changes
  • Use Chord Notation: When suggesting chord changes, use the [chord] format
  • Check Versions: Always note which version you're commenting on
  • Refresh Regularly: Use the refresh button to see new comments and changes
  • Communicate Clearly: Use the comment system to discuss changes before making them
